Solar Photovoltaic

Solar panels that produce electricity are known as solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. These panels generate electricity when exposed to daylight.

Solar PV panels capture daylight and converts it into electricity that is used in your home to power your TV, kettle, toaster, phone charger, radio, cooker etc.

A domestic solar PV system consists of a number of solar panels mounted to the roof of a structure and connected to the electricity system.

Solar panels generate DC electricity, which is then converted by an inverter to AC electricity. Solar PV systems are rated in kilowatts (kW) for example, a 1kW solar PV system would require 3 or 4 solar panels on your roof.

Any excess electricity produced can be stored in a battery, or diverted to a hot water system to heat the water. When excess electricity is not used, it is exported to the national grid where the customer will be paid for the excess by their electricity provider.

Solar Thermal

Solar thermal panels, or solar hot water collectors are devices that capture solar energy and converts it to heat water.

The amount of water supplied by solar thermal collectors depends on the system size and the hot water demand. Typical well-installed systems provide up to 60% of hot water demand over 12 months. Solar thermal collectors can also meet some portion of space heating demand, although typically this is very small. There are two general types of solar thermal collectors.

Solar (EV) Electric Vehicle charging

It is now even easier to charge your electric vehicle from at home or your business premises. By choosing an Electric Vehicle you have made the smart choice, and by installing an EV Charger for your electric vehicle, this greatly benefits your pocket as well as contributing to a greener, better environment. Solarcraft supply and install reliable, high-quality EV charging stations.

The cost of installing an EV Charger attracts tax exemptions that diesel and petrol cars do not. You don’t have to have an Electric car to benefit from the grant, which means when you install an EV Charger your family or staff can benefit from charging when visiting your home or business. Benefit from greatly reduced Road Tax for Electric Vehicles. Dramatic savings – a fully electric car can be charged from empty battery to full battery for as little as €1 – €4 depending on tariff from your electricity supplier. For full-electric cars charge time, using your EV Charger can be between 6 to 8 hours. Typically, most new EVs can avail of Rapid Charging points to top up batteries to approximately 80% charge in 30 minutes

Considering an EV charger? Avail of an SEAI Electric Vehicle Home Charger Grant
worth up to €600 towards the purchase and installation your EV home charger
